In His Steps

"This suffering is all part of what God has called you to. Christ who suffered for you, is your example. Follow in his steps. He never sinned, and he never deceived anyone. He did not retaliate when he was insulted. When he suffered, he did not threaten to get even. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly."  I Peter 2:21-23 Being a directionally challenged person, I've learned the value of following. It doesn't matter if it's following a someone or a GPS. I just don't like being lost. It's unsettling. I've been lost in cities. I've been lost in the woods. I've been lost on lakes. There are many options to choose from, but at the end of the day, come hell or high water, you will...

Positive Proof

"So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."  John 13:34-35 The gift was overwhelming.  Our family was about to go to five and a minivan was such an incredible blessing.  A fellow church member, moved by God's Spirit, gave of their resources to bless a young and growing family.  Love. Not talked about.  Not intellectually affirmed.  But expressed.  Love becomes love when it's given away. As it turns out, in our verses for today, Jesus promoted this love in action.  Even more than that, he told us that loving one another was a megaphone to the world.  It was the iron clad evidence that proved we belong to him. So, the request to make to God this week is this, "Please work through me to provide positive proof that I am a follower of Jesus."    Grace and Peace, Tom
