Exodus 33:17-19 After nearly thirty one years of marriage, I like to think I know my sweetheart pretty well by now and vice-versa. We've traveled some rough terrain as well as smooth waters seeing each other at our best and our worst. And yet, I find myself marveling on a regular basis at something new I discover about her that causes me to pause in wonder. It may be a depth of thought, an emotional nuance, a strength of will, a physical capability or a spiritual awareness that provides me with a more complete picture of, as well as appreciation for, who she is. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (Psalms 23:4 ESV) What or who are you afraid of? Are you fearful of losing your job, your family, or even your life? Are you afraid of a certain person? So many times we are fearful of what may happen. And when we go there, the possibilities for terror are unlimited. The following quote from Eugene Peterson is so powerful: "If we truly believe that we live in a God-bathed world, we having nothing to be afraid of." We are praying today that you would take Psalm 23:4 to heart, and know that you have nothing to be afraid of... Because God is with you.

A friend of mine shared this story with me this week: a few weeks ago he was at a large event and he saw a friend of his in a line and went up and stood right behind his friend. The friend, in the midst of several hundred other people was "Unaware" of his presence, so in typical 2012 fashion he texted his friend, and then decided to call his friend and the entire time the friend was still "Unaware" he was right behind him. Finally he reached up and tapped his friend on the shoulder and the friend was completely startled with his presence. This story really got me thinking about how often we get caught up in all that is going on and are completely "Unaware" of Gods Presence. In Genesis Jacob is startled by this as well as he didn't know that God was accessible from anywhere and Jacob even acknowledges that he wasn't even aware!
