Six Million Dollar Man

Lately the TV shows that I used to watch as a kid have been on my mind and I have found myself looking for clips from some of them on YouTube just to take that little walk down memory lane.

The one that I continually find myself talking about is the SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN as Steve Austin was just so cool to me and I can remember needing to be home every Sunday night in time to see it as there wasn’t a way to record the show if you missed it then you had to wait for re-runs.  For those of you who are like "what show is he talking about?" please click this link: http://youtu.be/HofoK_QQxGc watch and then finish up reading. :)

What was it about Steve Austin that made me love that show so much and run around the house pretending to be Steve Austin?  Was it the cool sound that came on when he was running, jumping, throwing something with is bionic arm?

I think it was the fact that he looked like an average guy that had some bad luck (accident as an astronaut) and they put something inside of him that saved him, changed him and made him better, stronger, faster than he was before.  Bionic parts are what they used in different areas of his body and you couldn’t tell by looking at him but in tough situations you could tell something was different because he used them and relied on them to get out of bad situations or to avoid danger.

This made me think about the Holy Spirit and that we should be the same way now that Christ is within us.  We shouldn’t look much different but we should be better than we were before the Spirit was in us and it should show in our actions.

Ephesians 5:15-20
15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.

We have something better than bionic parts! We have the gift of The Holy Spirit and that should be noticeable by how we live.  The good news for us is that we don’t need an accident to get new or additional parts but in Acts 2:38 Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Lets keep wanting to be like Steve Austin in the way that allows us to look normal but act supernatural because we are Spirit led and be better than we were before.
